Leonardtown's Got Talent
August 9th - 6pm @The Rex Theatre
Leonardtown's Community Wide Talent Show

Do you have what it takes to be the next local star?
Leonardtown’s Got Talent is your chance to step into the spotlight and showcase your skills in front of a live audience and a panel of performing arts professionals!
We’re calling on singers, dancers, musicians, magicians, comedians, and performers of all kinds to audition for a chance to compete in this exciting community-wide talent show.

The winner will open the main stage at Leonardtown’s Labor Day Weekend Concert!

Eligibility
Family-Friendly

No profanity or offensive language
-
No sexually suggestive movements, themes, or costumes
-
No violence or disturbing content
-
No references to drugs, alcohol, or other adult topics
-
Costumes and attire should be modest and suitable for a general audience.
Locality
This event is a celebration of local talent and is open exclusively to residents of St. Mary’s County.
Submission Video

Only one audition submission per act is allowed. (Group members may not submit multiple entries for the same act.)

Your audition video should serve as a teaser or introduction to your performance.

Videos must be at least 30 seconds and no longer than 1 minute and 30 seconds.

If selected to perform, your final act must not exceed 5 minutes.
Age Requirement
For the comfort and safety of all participants, and to support a self-managed performance process, all performers must be 13 years of age or older by the audition submission deadline: July 10, 2025.
Conduct & Behavior:
All participants must conduct themselves in a professional manner before, during, and after the event.
Any inappropriate behavior will result in immediate disqualification.
Liability Waiver:
By entering, participants agree to the use of their name, photos, and videos in promotional materials related to the event.
Leonardtown’s Got Talent and event organizers are not responsible for any injuries, damages, or loss of property during the event

Judging Criteria
Talent, Skill, & Technical Execution
Demonstrates technical ability, control, or unique skill in the chosen performance.
Creativity & Originality
Act feels fresh, creative, or showcases a unique twist or style.
Stage Presence & Personality
Performer(s) is/are engaging, confident, and expresses personality—even through video.
Clarity & Quality of Video
Video is clear, easy to hear/see, and gives a solid preview of the act. (No need for professional production—just clean and watchable.)
Selection Process
Performers will be selected based on their video submission. Any submissions that don't meet the eligibility requirements will be disqualified.

A panel of judges will review all entries and select the top acts to perform live on stage.
​
Performers will be notified of their selection by July 18th.
Audio Visual Requirments
Performers are responsible for providing any music, props, or special requirements for their act.
​
A sound/tech rehearsal will be held on August 8th (time tbd). You must be available for the tech rehearsal if selected.
​
Props/instruments must be easy to set up and clean up within the time limit.
Prize
The winner of Leonardtown’s Got Talent will receive the opportunity to open the Labor Day Concert at the Leonardtown Wharf. This concert features fireworks and draws over a thousand attendees each year. Contestants must be available August 30th for the show.
