The entire town of Leonardtown is a rich HISTORIC DISTRICT filled with restored buildings and landmarks with prominent historic significance from the Leonardtown Courthouse (circa 1930) and Old Jail Museum built in 1858 to Tudor Hall Manor, a Maryland 1812 site. The Leonardtown Historic Society, located inside Tudor Hall, collects, restores, researches and interprets the history of Maryland with the bulk of the research pertaining to St. Mary's County, Maryland. Available records include maps, business records, surveys, business and government records, diaries, marriage licenses, and more. Tour a historic site or visit the Historic Society to learn more about Leonardtown and St. Mary's County History.
